Danielle MacLanders

It is always fun to visit Danielle and her sister at Southern Sisters Boutique! Danielle is kind and always eager to help! She brings a warm welcoming touch to downtown.  We are so happy she is with us #hereingreer!

I am a native of Augusta, GA and attended University of Georgia Southern where I received a bachelors degree in Biology. I lived in Alberta Canada for 3 years before I moved to Greer SC. I love to travel and have had the opportunity to travel to many countries all over the world and experience amazing food and culture. Speaking of food, I love to cook and eat! I love to host murder mystery dinner parties, while enjoying the company of friends and family. When we are not entertaining my husband and I love being outdoors with our 2 dogs.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
This year my husband Justin I are celebrating 10 years of being married. We have two pups- Jellybean & Cotton who get to come to work with me! My sister Mary and I are business partners and get to work together every day! We get to work, travel, and play together. My parents and 2 brothers live in Augusta GA

Q: Please tell us about your current career. What do you love most about what you do?
My sister and I own Southern Sisters Boutique. I love being able to work with her every day, and absolutely love helping customers when they come in to see us. I love getting to know our customers and look forward to coming into work every day!

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
This is so hard! There are so many places I love! But right now. my favorite dish is the pork chop at L’incanto- and that’s saying a lot because I don’t like pork chops usually. I also love Great Bay! We always have a great time and great food!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
7 years

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Honestly, how could I decide?? There are so many amazing people in our community it would be hard to choose just one. It is one of the things I love most about Greer.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Probably to Jakarta Indonesia to visit our in-laws who recently moved there. We planned to go in July, but will be our next trip

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Well, I could watch the Office every day and not get tired of it. I’m a huge Wheel of Fortune fan, I’m even in the wheel watch club ????. I am not a scary movie person at all!

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Follow your dreams. Don’t let people discourage you. You can do it! Just work hard, don’t let the little things bring you down.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Riding an elephant in Thailand

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Probably Strip Club 104 because it was the first restaurant I ate at and sitting in the courtyard is so beautiful and relaxing

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
It would probably be Rachel Hollis and we would meet for a nice lunch Outside at Bleu Porch Kitchen. I love her outlook on life- she is such a positive light, and really instills Christian values with an entrepreneurial spirit. I think we would have a lot to talk about that would be inspiring.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I just love the small-town home feel. People are so friendly, and it reminds me of living in a hallmark movie town

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I did Irish dancing for 6 years

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Sicily- not only is the country beautiful but so are the people

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
I love all things Christmas and the first day of the year that feels like fall.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My husband. He is supportive and a dreamer like me. He helps me to achieve my dreams and encourages even my craziest ideas

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
To quote O.A.R “ I feel home when I see the faces that remember my own. I feel home when I’m chilling outside with the people I know”
